One would have sent betting on sport to the Texas ballot while the other would create a committee to begin sportsbook regulation. Eddie Lucio (D-27) filed two measures as well. The other would make it a criminal offense to bet online in Texas. One would have required sportsbooks to have a license if they accepted Texas players. The 2023 Texas legislative session could legalize betting, but it hasn’t done much in the past. Every regulation measure went to a committee, where it would die.
